Featured Event Recap
Commencement Weekend in Minneapolis | August 20–22
Minneapolis was filled with Night Owl pride as WGU alumni, university leaders, and community partners came together for a memorable commencement weekend. The celebration began with an inspiring Elevating Impact Event, where WGU recognized Distinguished Graduates Benjamin Junious-Washington and Alyssa Swanson, honored local partnerships, and heard from scholarship recipient Rachel Hedeen, who shared her WGU journey with the room.
The celebration continued Friday with an Alumni Celebration at Target Field, followed by Saturday’s commencement ceremony at Target Center, where 744 graduates were honored. Representing 42 states and U.S. territories and ranging in age from 16 to 69, this class included a majority of first-generation graduates and one dedicated Night Owl who traveled more than 2,600 miles from Alaska. Congratulations to all who crossed the stage!
