Commencement Weekend in Seattle | June 4–6
Seattle was full of Night Owl pride as WGU alumni, university leaders, and community partners came together for an unforgettable commencement weekend. The celebration began Thursday with an inspiring Elevating Impact Event recognizing scholarship recipients, community partners, and powerful stories of impact, along with two outstanding Distinguished Graduates, Ernest Esparza Jr. and Vernon Hadley—whose surprise marriage proposal made the evening even more memorable.
The celebration continued Friday and Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena, where 2,117 graduates were honored during Seattle Commencement. Representing 47 states and U.S. territories, with graduates ranging in age from 17 to 71, this class showcased the determination, joy, and WGU spirit that make commencement weekends so special. Also, a special shoutout to Dr. Kiesha King, WGU Distinguished Graduate and MBA alumna, who served as a commencement speaker and inspired our newest graduates with her message of access, innovation, and opportunity.
