Announcing the 2026 Distinguished Graduate Award Recipients
|
We’re proud to announce the 14 recipients of WGU’s 2026 Distinguished Graduate Award!
Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations—this year brought an incredible group of applicants, and we’re continually inspired by the impact our Night Owls are making in their careers, communities, and beyond. Selecting this year’s honorees was no easy task.

We’re starting the 2026 commencement season in style—this weekend in New Orleans! Known as The Big Easy and the birthplace of jazz, we’re heading south to celebrate nearly 1,500 graduates as they walk the stage.
Between beignets, brass bands, and unforgettable moments, we can’t wait to cheer on our newest Night Owls and welcome families and friends for an incredible celebration.

Highlights, Holidays, and Fun Facts
March marks the beginning of spring—a season of growth, momentum, and fresh opportunities. Fun fact: March was named after Mars, the Roman god of war, as it was traditionally the start of the military campaign season. Today, it’s more about new beginnings, longer days, and maybe a little March Madness.
Let’s take a look at what else is in store this month:
Women’s History Month (all month)—Celebrating the achievements and impact of all the wonderful women throughout history and today.
National Reading Month (all month)—A perfect excuse to start that book you’ve been meaning to read.
National Pi Day (3/14)—A delicious (and mathematical) reason to enjoy some pie.
March Madness Begins (3/15)—Brackets, buzzer-beaters, and a little friendly competition. Who's going to win it all?
St. Patrick’s Day (3/17)—Don't forget to wear green!
First Day of Spring (3/20)—Longer days and brighter evenings.
