Happy 2026! During the winter months, WGU alumni events naturally slow across the country. But with spring just around the corner, we’re gearing up to connect Night Owls again through special opportunities this year—from networking mixers and professional development events to volunteer opportunities, celebrations, and casual gatherings.

Highlights, Recaps, and What's Next

We kicked off the new year with a strong lineup of virtual events designed to help Night Owls connect, grow, and build their careers. So far this year, we’ve hosted Winter Career Quest, regional speed networking sessions, an interactive LinkedIn workshop, and our “You Graduated, Now What?” event to help recent graduates plan their next steps after earning their degree.

December 31—New Year's Eve PB&J Making Party with Feed the Need Northeast in Waterbury, CT

Night Owls rang in the New Year with purpose at the NYE PB&J Making Party, partnering with Feed the Need Northeast to support individuals experiencing homelessness. 155 volunteers of all ages came together for this family-friendly service event—assembling an incredible 2,700 PB&J sandwiches in just 18 minutes and showcasing the powerful impact of community and generosity to close out 2025.

February 3—WGU Day on the Hill in Olympia, Washington

WGU students and alumni gathered at the Washington State Capitol for WGU Day on the Hill, meeting with legislators and policymakers to share their educational journeys and highlight the impact of accessible, online learning. The event showcased how Night Owls are helping shape conversations around opportunity, innovation, and the future of higher education in Washington.

February 17—WGU Night Owl Mixer in Long Beach, CA

Night Owls gathered in Long Beach for an evening of connection, conversation, and community at a lively networking mixer. Alumni and students enjoyed great food while discussing emerging topics like AI and the future of work, strengthening professional networks and the growing WGU alumni community.
