September is here, fall is on the horizon, the school year is in full swing, and the days are getting shorter. Fun fact: September was originally the seventh month of the Roman calendar (“septem,” meaning seven) before January and February were added later.

Let’s take a look at what else is in store this month:

• Labor Day (9/1)—Recognizing workers across the nation.

• National Cheese Pizza Day (9/5)—The stringier, the better.

• Patriot Day (9/11)—Honoring the memory of those lost in 2001.

• National Video Games Day (9/12)—What are you playing?

• National Hispanic Heritage Month (starts 9/15)—Recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

• Talk Like a Pirate Day (9/19)—We dare you! Arrrgh.

• National IT Professionals Day (9/16)—Shout-out to our tech-savvy Night Owls who keep the world running smoothly.

• Autumn Equinox (9/22)—The first official day of fall, time for crisp air and cozy vibes. It is the best season, isn't it?

Who’s home to deep-dish pizza, the world’s first skyscraper, and the start of Route 66? That’s right—Chicago! We’re headed your way for WGU Commencement on September 27, and we can’t wait to cheer on our amazing grads.
