We’re thrilled to introduce the 2025 class of Distinguished Graduates—a group of 14 inspiring alumni recognized for their outstanding contributions to their professions, communities, and the world around them.

Each honoree represents the very best of WGU’s values: innovation, leadership, and lifelong learning. Their journeys showcase the real-world power of a WGU degree—and the heart of what it means to be a Night Owl.

• Star Wars Day (May 4)–Let’s be reminded by these great words from Grand Master Yoda: “Do or do not, there is no try.”
  
  

• Cinco de Mayo (May 5)–A celebration of Mexican heritage and culture. We hope you enjoyed spicy food with vibrant company!
  
  

• Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5–9)–Shout-out to all our amazing Night Owl educators making an impact every day.
  
  

• National Nurses Week (May 6–12)–Celebrating the compassionate, hardworking nurses in our alumni community—thank you for your care and commitment.
  
  

• Military Appreciation Month–Honoring the service and sacrifice of our military and veteran Night Owls, along with all members of the armed forces. Let’s also take time to remember their sacrifice on Memorial Day, May 27.
  
  

• Mother’s Day (May 12)–To all the moms balancing family, careers, and education—you’re incredible.
  
  

• National Barbecue Day–Yes, of course, we’re including this. Enjoy spring with a cookout! If BBQ isn’t your favorite, watch out for May 25—National Wine Day.

This weekend, 560 graduates will join us from across the country for WGU’s Spring Virtual Commencement, happening Saturday, May 10.

While we travel the U.S. to celebrate Night Owls walking the stage in person, we also proudly celebrate our grads virtually—because no matter where you are, your achievement deserves to be honored.

These graduates represent all four colleges, span 48 U.S. states and territories, and include military members and first-generation students. See more fun facts in the Program Guide.
